After twenty years, we’re finally back! Pennsylvania will return to center stage in the disability community, hosting the first-ever Living Well With A Disability℠ Conference & Expo on August 23-26, 2013 at the Lancaster Marriott & Lancaster County Convention Center.
Presented by the Center for Independent Living of Central PA (CILCP), PA Statewide Independent Living Council (PA SILC) and Three Rivers Center for Independent Living (TRCIL), the event will challenge people with all types of disabilities to discover their very best life, whether learning cooking techniques, trying rock climbing, discovering a new piece of technology and much more.
Have you ever wanted the rare opportunity to meet celebrities in the disability community who are achieving their goals on the national stage? This summer you can!
Among the first to be announced, conference guests will laugh along with Josh Blue, a famously witty performer, known for putting the “cerebral in cerebral palsy.” Blue exploded onto the national comedy scene by capturing the attention and hearts of the country as the winner of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” Josh, who also appeared on Comedy Central’s “Mind of Mencia,” will give a comedy show during the event.
“In 1993, Pennsylvania led the way with ‘Power Through Knowledge,’ the first statewide conference for people with disabilities in the nation,” said Theo Braddy, Executive Director of the Center for Independent Living of Central PA. “Now, we are excited to bring an even bigger opportunity to the mid-Atlantic region for people with all types of disabilities to take living well to the next level.”
During the four-day conference, August 23-26, and free two-day expo, August 24 and 25, people with disabilities and their caregivers, educators and parents will meet with experts for tips on everything from traveling and employment to dating and arts and cultural opportunities. Additional celebrity guests are slated to be announced in the coming weeks on the Living Well With A Disability Conference & Expo Facebook page, Twitter account (www.twitter.com/LivingWell2013) and website.
The expo is FREE and open to the public, so register and reserve your spot now!
