The Center for Independent Living of Central PA (CILCP) in Camp Hill, Pa. and the Three Rivers Center for Independent living (TRCIL) in Pittsburgh, offer fully-accessible fitness centers for people with disabilities. Both fitness centers provide people with disabilities the opportunity to use specialized fitness equipment designed specifically for persons with disabilities to exercise and strengthen their bodies, and ultimately live a healthier life.

Below is a summary of the equipment and services each Center for Independent Living provides. We encourage you to contact us to see how you can become part of our fitness centers!

The Center for Independent Living of Central PA’s Living Well With A Disability Fitness Center offers many types of specialized equipment including:

  • Magnum Fitness M103 AdvAntage Trainer
    • Works upper body muscle groups.
    • Includes a large back pad that gives full support while using a wheelchair.
  • Flexiciser
    • Designed for paraplegics and quadriplegics or any person with a disability who cannot maintain movement through natural means.
    • Helps to increase range of motion and can also help to reduce pain.
  • MOTOmed®MOTOmed®
    • Cycling machine for arms and legs that measures resistance, tone, and heart rate.
    • Designed for passive or active exercise.
  • Bodylastics®
    • Exercise bands that give nonstop tension on muscles, but it is not hard on joints.
  • Magnum Angled Smith Machine
    • Designed for people with greater upper body or lower body strength.
    • Made to do military or bench presses, lunges, pull ups, squats and shoulder and chest presses.
  • MiR Pro Weighted Vest
    • Helps to increase bone density and intensity of a workout routine.
    • Assists in strength training and weight loss.
  • The Center also offers:
    • Elliptical machine
    • Free weights
    • Easy curl barbells
    • Medicine balls
    • Body fat analyzer
    • Aerobic steps
    • Boxing bag and gloves
    • Body ball
    • Sit-up and flexibility mats
    • Body mass index instrument

Working with a medicine ballTo join CILCP’s Living Well Fitness Center, call the Living Well hotline at 1-877-TO-LIV-WELL (Voice/TTY), and a Living Well specialist will conduct a free lifestyle assessment. Following the assessment, information will be sent to the certified personal trainer, and consent and liability forms will be completed before receiving a membership card. Anyone with a disability that is a user of CILCP services and can direct their own fitness routines has access to the fitness center at no cost; however, one-on-one sessions with a trainer are also available for a nominal fee. This fee may be waived or the consumer may qualify for state funded assistance.

We are closed all major holidays.

Also, be sure to visit the Fitness Center Store after your work out. Store hours are the same as the fitness center hours.

Three Rivers Center for Independent Living (TRCIL) also provides similar equipment for people with all types of disabilities.

    • Exercises the upper body, providing aerobic, cardiac and resistance workouts.
  • Magnum Angled Smith Machine

    • Stretch bands
    • Fitness body balls
    • Wheelchair exercise DVDs.
    • Nintendo’s Wii Sports!
    • Game Cycle which merges the upper body movement with visual images on the screen.
Three Rivers Center for Independent Living (TRCIL) Staff

TRCIL’s Living Well With A Disability Fitness Center is available to people with disabilities for free. Before using the equipment, each person must fill out a questionnaire about their disability, and must have permission from their doctor to use the equipment.
