Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America

The Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) has 30 chapters throughout the US. They are dedicated to fighting myasthenia gravis, a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disorder. The chapters offer support groups and programs for patients and their families.

TRAS Bowling League

Three Rivers Adaptive Sports (TRAS) provides a non-competitive bowling league that is open to people with disabilities, and friends and family members of people with disabilities. Adaptive equipment is available. The cost is $10 per person.

Parent-for-Parent Support Group

When: 1st Wednesday of every month

The Resource Center hosts a monthly parent/caregiver support group. The support group provides an opportunity for families to discuss triumphs, challenges, issues, and concerns facing individuals with special needs.

Legal Issues Webinar Series: Employment and the ADA

Equip for Equality’s online educational seminar occurs once a month and covers a variety of topics surrounding individuals with disabilities. This series focuses on employment issues and disability discrimination.

Eagle Springs Programs provide summer camps as well as weekend vacations for adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. Activities include art, crafts, music, dance, sports, drama, swimming and fishing. In addition, there is a small farm where camp participants may interact with a variety of farm animals and go horseback riding.

Camp Lee Mar provides a place where children with learning and developmental disabilities can have all the experiences of “Camp.” Activities include baseball, basketball, fishing, boating, swimming, drama, zip line, soccer, arts and crafts, dancing, and more.

Summit Camp & Summit Travel

Summit Camp & Travel is offered to kids age 8-17, who share difficulty in making and maintaining peer relationships. Students with clinical diagnoses such as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD and/or ADHD), Asperger’s Syndrome, Verbal or Non-Verbal Learning Disabilities, Tourrettes syndrome, O.C.D., and /or mild mood disorders often attend the camp.

Camp Make-A-Friend

Easter Seals of Southeastern Pennsylvania will hold Camp Make-A-Friend for children with disabilities. Children will be able to participate in age appropriate activities such as arts and crafts, swimming, music, athletics, group games, nature activities and special events. All activities are adapted to the campers' specific needs, providing them with a summer filled with therapeutic recreational activities.

The ASA National Conference is the largest autism conference in the nation welcoming professionals, exhibitors, parents and family members, and individuals to discuss topics including legal issues, treatment-guided research and social skills.

Camp Speers-Eljabar YMCA

Camp Speers-Eljabar YMCA is a program for individuals with mild to moderate developmental disabilities to participate in traditional camping activities. Campers are housed with a lower staff to camper ratio (1:3) to ensure that their personal needs are met.

Round Lake Camp

Full Summer: July 2- August 20, 2009
Where: Lake Como, Pennsylvania

A co-ed residential summer camp for children ages 7-21, a unique place for children with Asperger’s and mild social skill disorders. Programs are planned to meet the capabilities of each child. Educational activities are combined with recreation and socialization.

National Disability Sports Conference

This conference will include interactive and hands-on sessions on topics such as program development and coaching. The nation’s best sports professionals, coaches, and Paralympic athletes will be in attendance to discuss training techniques.

The Center for Independent Living of Central PA (CILCP) invites you to enjoy a concert by the Peter Mayer Group to raise funds for the services they provide to people with disabilities. The opening band is Tropical Soul. Following the concert, there will be a meet and greet with the Peter Mayer Group, dessert and coffee bar, and a cash bar. The event is fully accessible, and a sign language interpreter will be provided. Seating is limited, so be sure to purchase your tickets soon! 2009 Southwest Conference on Disability

The main conference theme is Disability in America: Inalienable Rights for All. Special emphasis themes are addressing the long-term challenges faced by wounded warriors, and improving quality of life of people with disabilities through evaluating disability programs, policies and services. At the Southwest Conference on Disability, we explore what we have in common, and how we can create a mutual agenda that goes beyond a particular perspective, group or disability.

The National Foundation for the Blind of Central Pennsylvania State Convention

This convention is sponsored by Pennsylvania Parents of Blind Children (PAPOBC). It will feature counseling/support groups, information about parenting/transitioning, workshops and presentations. It is for parents of, and individuals up to age 26 who have visual impairments.

TASH 2009 Conference

NCD's National Summit on Disability Policy

The National Council on Disability will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ADA with people with disabilities and prominent stakeholders, including federal, community, and private sector disability experts.
